What is Google Cardboard?

In contrast to many of the other devices on the market, such as the Oculus Rift or the Samsung Gear VR, Google Cardboard is not a device produced specifically by Google. Rather, you can get a Google Cardboard viewer either through a third-party manufacturer or through building it yourself by following Google's list of parts, specifications, and other instructions that they list on their website.

Many manufacturers now, however, are selling Google Cardboard Viewers that are pre-assembled of both the cardboard and hard material variety. If you do obtain the materials yourself, you can follow the precise measurement instructions when cutting your cardboard and putting it together.

How It Works

Google Cardboard works simply by placing your phone in the actual Cardboard viewer and looking through the lenses. That's all there is too it. Whether or not you want a headstrap is up to you.

You will have to download various apps that offer Google Cardboard content. Google itself has the Cardboard app, which is available for download on the Apple Store and Google Play.
